Our grade one students have begun their new How the World Works unit of inquiry, “Understanding forces and motion helps us to solve everyday problems”. We plan to use the MYP design cycle (adapted for first graders) to guide the inquiry process and will focus on designing toys that move. Students will build a toy over several iterations and use Book Creator on the iPads to document the process. Our goal is to use Book Creator as a way to document student reflection and understanding, and to help teachers use self assessment in a meaningful way.
